Daniel MortierBroker/Partner
Daniel Mortier (Dan) first visited Door County more than 30 years ago while growing up in Appleton, Wisconsin, though his early years began in the Chicago suburbs of Lombard and Naperville. As a teenager, Dan’s Door County visits became more frequent and eventually led to summer jobs in Fish Creek and Ephraim through his college years. He obtained a BA in political communication from The George Washington University in Washington, DC and considered a career in the political arena, but Door County and small town life beckoned. Dan began his career in Door County real estate in 1993 and spent the next decade in a Fish Creek brokerage, where he became a Senior Sales Associate and Director of Marketing. He obtained his real estate Broker’s license in 2003 and went on to form his own company where he worked closely with a development team to create a new residential community near Sister Bay. In early 2008, Dan joined four other partners in creating the True North Partnership, where, in addition to the performance of brokerage service, he also oversees much of the day to day marketing effort. Outside of real estate, Dan was involved with Door County’s Habitat for Humanity affiliate for nearly a decade, with over six years as a member of the Board of Directors and site selection Chair. He also spent over three years as a Supervisor on the Liberty Grove Plan Commission. During his term its members co-created the town’s Smart Growth Plan; addressing land use issues, economic development, infrastructure, and environmental concerns. Since 2012, he has served on the Sister Bay Economic Development Committee, helping to strengthen Sister Bay as the village has transformed its downtown parks, infrastructure and commercial district, building a stronger and more vibrant community. Dan lives in the outskirts of Sister Bay and Ephraim in a farmhouse that he has spent years restoring. He enjoys working in his yard and garden (when time permits in the busy Door County summers) and spending time with his friends, family and dog, Ben. He heads out of the County a couple times a year to Marco Island, Florida, where his family has a unit in a sunny beachfront condominium. Dan feels fortunate to continue to meet the needs of True North's customers and clients with passion and a thoughtful approach based on years of experience. “I love what I do,” he says. “There’s real satisfaction that comes from helping someone fulfill their dreams of home ownership – be it with a first-time buyer or the person achieving their goal of acquiring a Door County vacation home.”
